Plumbing Vent Cleaning

I have two cast iron plumbing vents on my roof.  Had a problem with sewerage smell in house. Had sewerage lines checked and they were fine.  Was told the 2 vent pipes on roof need to be cleaned out and caps put on to keep things from getting in them while allowing the proper venting.
